Helping Near & Far

As Christians we are called to give and aid those in need generously and with our whole hearts. St. John seeks to fulfill this calling through abundant giving to various causes and organizations, so that those in the greatest need can receive the immense love and care of Christ within their own lives.

Matthew 10:8 "...Freely you have received; freely give."

  • Highlands County Habitat for Humanity

St. John has been a Community Partner with Highlands County Habit for Humanity for many years. St. John often hosts Habitat's events and meetings, donates goods from our Annual Treasure Trove Sale, and contributes financially with generous offerings from our congregation. In the beginning of 2023, the St. John church family raised over $18,000 to assist in the building of a home in Mason's Ridge.

  • Parkway Food Ministry

Based here in Sebring, Parkway Food Ministry is run by Faith Missionary Baptist Church and is a cause St. John is glad to support. On a weekly basis food and hygiene items are collected via a donation box in our Narthex, and are taken to Parkway to help those in need throughout Highlands County.

  • Naomi's Heart Mission

St. John is blessed to be the sponsor of 10 children in the Philippines through Naomi's Heart Mission. Naomi's Heart provides education, food, and medicine to children in great need throughout the Philippines. With St. John's help, our 10 sponsored children are able to receive a well rounded education rooted in faith through the Naomi's Heart Christian Academy, located in General Santos City.

  • Hurricane Disaster Relief

Being a church in Florida, it is a certainty that we will face hurricanes and the hardships that come with them. Because of this, St. John is always ready and willing to help with aiding our community and other places affected by natural disasters in any way we can. In previous years St. John has been a contributor to disaster relief for Hurricane Ian and Hurricane Fiona (affecting Puerto Rico), as well as Hurricane Irma.

  • Samaritan's Purse: Operation Christmas Child

Every Christmas Season, St. John collects monetary and shoe box donations for Operation Christmas Child through the Samaritan's Purse organization. Members of the congregation stuff shoe boxes with gifts, books, hygiene supplies, socks, etc. to be sent to children in need across the globe. In addition to receiving the joy of a Christmas gift and vital supplies, children are also receiving the word of God and the chance to be a part of his wonderful kingdom.
