Rev. Dowling joined the St. John team in the Fall of 2023 as Minister of Evangelism and Discipleship.

Pastor Dorman is a retired Navy Chaplain who also pastored several churches giving him a combined 28 years of ministerial service. During his years as a Navy Chaplain, he had the privilege of being a chaplain to the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Coast Guard. He also served with the U.S. Air Force and has traveled and lived in many countries around the world. The Southeast U.S. has been his home for the past 28 years.

Rev. Dowling was born and raised in Sacramento, CA where he came to know Christ at eight years of age. He earned a B.A in Philosophy/Religion at Northwest Nazarene University, Nampa, ID and his M.Div. at Nazarene Theological Seminary, Kansas City, MO. Additionally, he earned a Masters in Counseling and an MBA both from Webster University, St Louis, MO.

In 2000, Pastor Dorman married Janice (Murphy) of Anderson, SC. Pastor has two grown daughters and four grandchildren. Rev. Dowling and Jan made Sebring their home in 2023 after seven years of caretaking Jan’s parents in the upstate of South Carolina.
